Atlas Mountain Lodge
Built into a rocky outcrop above apricot, fig, cherry and apple orchards on the edge of Aremd village, the Atlas Mountain Lodge is the village's first exclusive holiday rental home and Berber hotel. This exclusive Toubkal hotel was designed and constructed by a local Berber family.
South-facing, the sunny terrace offers a panorama of magnificent peaks with the summit of Jebel Toubkal rising at the centre. Below the house are verdant gardens and fruit-filled orchards, watered by irrigation canals and tended by the local villagers. The peace and quiet of Aremd is only punctuated by the distant 'call to prayer' from the minaret at the foot of the village, noisy mules and the morning cries of cockerels.
Access and location
Just over an hour's drive from Marrakech, the High Atlas Mountains seem a world away from the hustle and bustle of Djemaa el Fna and Marrakech's buzzing souks. Here, on the rooftop of North Africa, you can discover Berber villages clinging to mountainsides and enjoy an unhurried natural way of life long since gone in the Western world. Whether you prefer to just relax or head out on foot in Morocco's biggest mountain range, you can be assured of a very comfortable nights sleep in the Atlas Mountain Lodge.
RoomsThe lodge itself offers flexible sleeping accommodation in four en-suite bedrooms, a large traditional 'salon' (living room/dining room), kitchen and terrace. Available on an exclusive property rental basis or as an intimate Toubkal hotel, Atlas Mountain Lodge has been rented by couples seeking real privacy, or more commonly by small groups of friends or families, from 4 to 8 people.
Surrounded by walnut and fruit trees and sitting at an altitude of 1,915 metres in Toubkal National Park, Aremd is the highest village in the Aït Mizane Valley and the last settlement before Jebel Toubal. The base of Toubkal is a 4-5 hour walk away from Aremd village.
